Munich (dpa) - Germany coach Joachim Löw believes that midfielder Sami Khedira will recover in time from a severe knee injury to play at the World Cup in Brazil.

“Things are looking good. Sami is on schedule. He feels good, is doing some light training on the treadmill and has suffered no setbacks,” Löw told the Bild am Sonntag Sunday paper.

The Real Madrid player Khedira ruptured the cruciate knee ligament on November 15 in a friendly against Italy. If all goes well he could be fit to play again just ahead of the World Cup which takes place between June 12 and July 13.

Löw said he talked to Khedira on the phone a few days ago, and they were also set to meet Sunday and Monday at a national team marketing event for which Löw has invited 26 players.
