The 31st Annual Filmfest München

Mr. Morgan's Last Love

The 31st annual Filmfest München has gotten off to a rollicking good start with Sir Michael Caine’s arrival on the first full day of the festival. He is being awarded this year’s annual CineMerit Award, and throughout the week a retrospective of his films is on offer.

From Get Carter and The Man Who Would be King in his early career through Hannah and Her Sisters and Cider House Rules, a selection of Caine’s impressive breadth of acting roles will be showcased. Additionally, his newest film Mr. Morgan’s Last Love is being given its European premiere, and both the Oscar Award winning actor and the film’s director Sandra Nettelbeck (Bella Martha) will be on hand to present it.

Filmfest Muenchen 2012

Filmfest Muenchen 2012 is centered on the Gasteig

The first comprehensive retrospective of cult director Alejandro Jodorowsky will also be featured during the festival, as well as an extensive retrospective of the Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. The program boasts 174 films from 48 different countries, and there is a wide selection of cinema for both the refined film snob and the casual movie goer. For those who enjoy the experience of sitting in a movie theatre and seeing films that are not offered the rest of the year, this is a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar.
