Premiered in the 2013 Cannes film festival, the film experienced its first international screening at Sidney International Film Festival few days ago.

The Past is Farhadi’s sixth directorial work and first one in a foreign country that was shot in the French capital, Paris.

The film scooped two prizes at the 66th Cannes film festival including the Best Actress award that went to Argentine-French actress Berenice Bejo, and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury (prix du Jury œcuménique).
