MUNICH (MunichNOW Events) — We recently received notice of a special urban tour of a very special house – a TINY HOUSE! See this unusual and intriguing design while it is on display here in Munich at Odeonsplatz for the next three days – Sept 18-20!
aVOID is a mobile house prototype, drawing inspiration from the well-known American ‘tiny house’ typology. The 9 sqm living space is equipped with every comfort needed for everyday life and characterized by a strong adhesion to minimalist principles, the ‘less is more’ movement, and a more sustainable lifestyle. aVOID is the result of an artistic-architectural research project directed by Leonardo Di Chiara in collaboration with
Tinyhouse University and supported by numerous internationally renowned technical partners.
The objective of the project is the field testing of the mobile ‘tiny house’ typology, the industrialisation of its construction process and raising social awareness of new housing policies such as the creation of urban migratory neighbourhoods. aVOID is the very first ‘tiny house’ entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, specifically in the very well-known
Pesaro “District of Furniture”.
With the aim of raising awareness among the public for the need to rethink our housing models, particularly to face the rapid changes of contemporary society, aVOID will be the protagonist of a tour starting in Berlin and ending in Rome. aVOID on Tour was conceived as an ideal continuation of the research promoted by Leonardo Di Chiara within the Bauhaus Campus as a member of the Tinyhouse University.
Starting in mid 2018, aVOID will travel through several locations functioning as a physical platform to empower discussions around topics such as sustainability, self-construction, and mobile living in relation to the possibilities offered by tiny houses. At every stage the public will be invited to actively participate in a series of events, including tiny-talks, test-living experiences, guided tours, art residencies, lectures, conferences, contests, and design workshops curated by the members of the Tinyhouse University.
The aVOID Tiny House will be on display in Odeonsplatz in central Munich on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of September.
