Paris (MunichNOW News/dpa) - Germany and France will discuss the possibility of imposing sanctions on Ukraine at a joint cabinet meeting in Paris later Wednesday, Germany’s ambassador to France told French radio.
“The violence in Ukraine must stop immediately,” Ambassador Susanne Wasum-Rainer told France Inter radio, ahead of the meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Francois Hollande and their respective cabinets.
“One must probably reflect together on the need now for sanctions,” she said.
Asked what type of sanctions might be considered she said “everything is possible” but emphasized: “We must not punish the population. We must see what we can do to exert more pressure on the Ukrainian government.”
