Munich‘s improv theater festival is going into its second round! From Nov 2 – 5, Improvember will be presenting a total of 8 shows full of surprises, all around Munich. The highlight is the gala performance on Friday, Nov. 3rd.
MUNICH — (MunichNOW Arts & Culture) — Munich’s improv theater festival is going into its second round! This year the company is pleased to offer 13 workshops to which they are welcoming more than 120 participants from all over the world!
From Nov 2 – 5, the group will be presenting a total of 8 shows full of surprises, all around Munich. Munich’s former mayor Christian Ude is the official patron for our festival.
In improvisational theatre neither the actors nor the audience know what will happen. The story is created in the moment and actively involves the audience, too. Munich has a very active improv community with over 30 groups – Improvember offers a common platform to exchange, to connect and to develop.
During the three days of workshops (sold out since April 2017!) with renowned national and international trainers the participants can train, improve their techniques and learn new formats. The top-class shows in the frame of this festival allow the different improv players and trainers to be on stage together and to mix their play styles. (Die hochkarätigen Abendshows im Rahmen des Festivals ermöglichen ein gemeinsames Spielen und Auftreten der Improtheaterspieler und ein Vernetzen der zahlreichen Künstler untereinander.)
For the audience the shows offer an insight into different improv theater formats, coined by the influences of the different players. This year we are thrilled to have guests from Latvia, Switzerland, Ireland, and the US/Finland, who show especially for this festival developed formats.
On Friday, Nov 3rd, there is the huge gala show with all trainers centered around the Wolpertinger. A Wolpertinger is a historical and traditional Bavarian jackalope. Nobody knows exactly where it lurks, but we know for sure it’s rare and has a variety of valued skills.
For our ImproWolperdinger, neither the players nor the spectators know what will happen next and they need to count on their talents to get by. Everyone has an active part in directing the plot and steering the story. Who will win the hearts of the audience and who will succumb to the crazy penalties and forfeits?
At the ImproWolpertinger, only one member of our professional, international cast will take home the trophy, but they’ll definitely all entertain you. Improvember is an international festival for improvised theater celebrating its second year in Munich. Due to our international cast, this event will take place in English.
